San Francisco is the best city for female entrepreneurship according to the Intuit blog. The 48 largest cities were evaluated with five criteria: businesses per 100 residents; percentage of businesses owned by women; income per capita; unemployment rate; and percentage of population with Bachelor’s degrees. Overall, San Francisco scored best.
Also ranked in the top 10 are Atlanta; Austin, Texas; Denver; Minneapolis; Portland, Ore.; Raleigh, N.C.; San Diego; Seattle and Washington, D.C., which has the largest percentage of women-owned businesses (34.5%). Notably absent are the three largest cities: New York City, Los Angeles and Chicago.
